ABAK®-keyboards for use in hygienically demanding areas
|
|
We offer you the standard of tomorrow already today
Wöhr® - antibacterial hygienic keyboards (ABAK®)
Especially in hygienically demanding areas such as doctor’s surgeries and clinics where we deal with the delicate health of people, germs and bacteria are
an incalculable risk for both physicians and patients.
The so-called nosocomial infections (hospital infections the patient comes down with only in causal relationship with his hospital stay) with 3,5% to 17% in
European studies constitute a considerable risk factor which could be minimised, however, by using antibacterial coatings.
Especially the input units of the EDP-devices are subject to frequent contact with different persons in times of electronic patient administration and
-treatment, and thus demonstrably become a medium for germs and bacteria between the patients. Problems of this kind are widely known, but have been only insuffiently solved hitherto.
Therefore, the new hygienic keyboards of the ABAK®-series are an absolute novelty and they set standards in the hygiene of input devices by means of
their active protection against germs and bacteria, and thus contribute considerably to the safe handling with medical devices in hygienically demanding areas.
Our hygienic keyboards have been approved acc. to the product standard EN60601-1-2:2001 (medical), A hygienic expert’s report
has been furnished
Fields of application:
- medical and dental technics
- hospital technics
- convalescence facilities
- food processing industries
- access control
- desktops
- public areas a.m.m.

As a matter of course, we offer also customised versions of the decor foils, as well as of the
housings and the accessories.
|
Properties of the decor foil |
|
The decor foils are i m p r i n t e d on the b a c k s i d e for better protection of the printing, and they are serially resistant to chemical influences acc. to DIN 42115.
The possibility to equip the decor foils with antibacterial, germ-killing properties can be called almost revolutionary. The protection is realised by means of a special, novel
germ-killing and antibacterial layer in the foil surface, which prevents the bacteria and germs from reproduction on the foil-covered keypad and kills them. Thanks to the planar surface, the cleaning of the
keyboard is mere child’s play. No complicated cleaning in narrow gaps and corners – one wipe is sufficient to clean the whole of the surface thoroughly and to disinfect it.
|
|
We at Richard Wöhr GmbH are proud of the fact that we are the first manufacturer to use these foils in a ready-for-marketing standard product.

The keyboards can also be executed as customised versions, of course. You will find some examples showing our extensive manufactoring possibilities at www.Folientastaturen.de

Properties of the housing surfaces
|
|
The housing surfaces may consist of pure stainless steel or of specially treated plastic, aluminium, steel plate or cast iron, depending on the model or the
customised execution.
The surfaces are not only resistant to chemicals, but the complete housing is protected by a special coating against damages caused by disinfectants.

Wipe test
|
|
In addition to the chemical stains test, a wipe test is carried out. With a cellulose cloth imbued in benzine or alcohol,
the coloured surface or the lettering is wiped for approx. 15 seconds with rotating movements and normal usage pressure.
When this time is over, there must be no loose items, discolouring or fading of the varnish and/or the lettering.
